'Fork found in kitchen' is the equivalent of saying 'Congratulations, Captain Obvious'. It's usually used to reply to someone who said something so obvious that everyone knows, so you barely have to think about it. You would use this to reply to someone who said something like 'the sky is blue' or 'grass is green'.

"Fork found in kitchen" is a response to refer to or address something obvious. It’s another iteration of saying “yea duh” and was mainly popularized on X and TikTok in comment sections. People also use other variations, such as “food found in fridge” and get creative with the iterations of the phrase depending on the context.

"Fork found in kitchen" is a slang internet phrase that basically means "duh!" People use it to convey that something is totally obvious: after all, the first place you'd expect to find a fork is in the kitchen, right? The phrase appears most often in quote tweets on Twitter (also known as X). For instance, a post about how Lord Voldemort is actually a really unsympathetic character when you think about it might be quote-tweeted with "Fork found in kitchen."

The catchphrase most likely originated on Twitter/X in 2021, though the exact origins are still fuzzy. Currently, it's believed the earliest usage of "fork found in kitchen" was in a February 11, 2021 tweet by @93rchive that said, "'HARRY STYLES SPOTTED AT A GAY BAR' ok? fork found in kitchen move along now," implying it's really not very surprising to hear Styles was spotted in a gay bar and isn't worth making a fuss over. The tweet garnered 8.2k likes and 612 retweets.

Roughly a year after that, Twitter user @gwayupdates quote-tweeted a since-deleted post that said, "OMG WE HAVE A PERSON IN THE PSYCH WARD WHO KNOWS MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE OMG OMG" with "fork found in kitchen." This tweet garnered more than 34,000 likes in two years.

The phrase continued to spread on Twitter, but began circulating more on TikTok in 2023. A November 3, 2023 TikTok video posted by creator @bug.cel included the caption "Me after finding out my favorite Minecraft YouTuber is a pdf file (fork found in kitchen)" and garnered over 88,000 views and 8700 likes in nine months.

"Fork found in kitchen" is most commonly used when quote-tweeting another Twitter user's tweet, so use the phrase when someone makes an obvious or self-evident statement. Just make sure to use it in good humor and avoid putting someone down or insulting them.
