Are you trying to get Caviar in Stardew Valley? Caviar isn't difficult to obtain in Stardew, but it does require one specific ingredient—Sturgeon Roe. You must use Roe from a Sturgeon to make Caviar. Otherwise, you'll just get Aged Roe. Keep reading to learn more about making Caviar, how to catch a Sturgeon, and what you can use your Caviar for.

Things You Should Know

Place your Sturgeon Roe in a Preserves Jar and allow it to process for 4 in-game days to get Caviar.

You must specifically have Sturgeon Roe to make Caviar—any other Roe will turn into Aged Roe when placed in the Preserves Jar.^{[2]

Wait until Summer or Winter. You can catch Sturgeon during Summer or Winter, so if you're not in one of those seasons, you will have to wait until Summer or Winter to find a Sturgeon.
- If you can access Qi's Walnut Room, you can buy Magic Bait that allows you to catch any fish regardless of the weather, time, or season. You can purchase Magic Bait for 5 Qi Gems, as well as the recipe for Magic Bait for 20 Qi Gems.^{[3]

Go fishing in the Mountain Lake between 6 am and 7 pm. Sturgeon can be found during any weather, though you're most likely to find one on rainy Summer days.^{[4]
