A Glossary of Hollow Knight Characters
Bardoon - Bardoon is an old caterpillar found in Kingdom’s Edge, having climbed up there to get away from the Infection. He offers the Knight lore on the Pale King, Cast-Off Shell, and the King’s Brand.
Bretta - Bretta is a lonely beetle who can be rescued from the Fungal Wastes (and will develop a large crush on the Knight afterward).
Charm Lover Salubra - Salubra is a slug with a shop just above the abandoned village at the bottom of the Forgotten Crossroads. She crafts and sells charms, and will teach the Knight about them as well.
Cloth - Cloth is a cicada warrior on a journey to prove her courage; she aims to find mighty creatures to battle and die an epic death. She can be encountered in different places across Hallownest.
Confessor Jiji - Jiji is a merchant in Dirtmouth who can summon unrecovered Shades.
Cornifer the Cartographer - As the name suggests, Cornifer is a cheerful cartographer attempting to map all of Hallownest.
Dung Defender - The Dung Defender is one of the game’s main boss enemies and was, formerly, the most loyal of the Five Great Knights of Hallownest (named Ogrim).
Elderbug - Elderbug is the oldest bug living in Dirtmouth. He’s happy to offer friendly advice and wisdom to travelers who seek him out.
Eternal Emilitia - Emilitia was cast out of Hallownest’s upper caste some time ago; now, her room offers a shortcut between the City of Tears and the eastern Royal Waterways.
Grubfather - Grubfather is an aging grub saddened by the loss of his children. After his Grubs are returned to him, he’ll grant the Knight a reward.
Herrah the Beast - Herrah is Hornet’s mother and the queen of the Spider Tribe in Deepnest.
Hornet - Hornet is the princess-protector of Hallownest’s ruins. She starts out as an antagonist, but later becomes a steadfast ally of the Knight’s. She and the Knight are also half-siblings.
Iselda - Iselda is Cornifer’s wife and a merchant in Dirtmouth. She often wishes that Cornifer would stay closer to home.
Leg Eater - Leg Eater is a blind hermit. He’s also a merchant and will sell or repair Fragile Charms.
Little Fool - Little Fool is a merchant and supporter of the Fools (a group of warrior beasts and bugs who battle for glory at the Colosseum of Fools).
Lurien the Watcher - Lurien is one of the Dreamers; he became a Dreamer after volunteering, determined to protect the kingdom of Hallownest.
Marissa - Marissa is a spirit who used to sing in the Pleasure House. As a ghost, she continues to sing, although she has no audience.
Mask Maker - Mask Maker creates masks (or “faces”) for the faceless in the kingdom of Hallownest. They can also offer lore on Hallownest’s history.
Midwife - Midwife is a servant to the Nest who can offer lore on Herrah and Deepnest. However, she’ll also attempt to eat the Knight.
Millibelle the Banker - Millibelle is a merchant who runs a bank in Fog Canyon, although she’s also a thief who will steal the Knight’s earnings if given a chance.
Mister Mushroom - Mister Mushroom is a talking mushroom who appears once the three Dreamers have been killed.
Monomon the Teacher - Monomon is one of the Dreamers, formerly a researcher and teacher of Hallownest. She also trained Quirrel.
Moss Prophet - Moss Prophet is one of the few Mosskin who believe in the Radiance, and they preach about the Radiance in the Queen’s Gardens.
Myla - Myla is a cheerful miner near the entrance to Crystal Peak, though she eventually becomes Infected.
Nailmaster Mato - As one of the three Nailmasters, Mato can teach the Cyclone Slash to the Knight.
Nailmaster Oro - Oro is another of the three Nailmasters; he can teach the Dash Slash Nail Art to the Knight.
Nailmaster Sheo - Sheo is the third Nailmaster, although he is retired. Nonetheless, he can teach Knight the Great Slash Nail Art.
Poggy Thorax - Poggy Thorax is a ghost lingering in the Pleasure House (likely eaten by high-class bugs).
Quirrel - Quirrel is a bright, upbeat explorer and former student of Monomon. He assists the Knight in their quest, though he is missing much of his memory.
Relic Seeker Lemm - Lemm is a merchant who will collect Relics and buy them from the Knight.
Revek - Revek is a spirit who protects the Spirits’ Glade, warning the Knight not to harm any of the Glade’s inhabitants.
Seer - The Seer is the last surviving member of the Moth Tribe. She’s the one to originally give the Knight the Dream Nail and goes on to offer guidance on the Knight’s quest.
Sly - Sly is a merchant and former Great Nailsage.
Steel Soul Jinn - Jinn is a merchant who only appears in-game when playing Steel Soul Mode. When she does appear, she replaces Confessor Jiji.
The Grey Mourner - The Grey Mourner was formerly known as Ze’mer, one of the Five Great Kmights of Hallownest.
The Hunter - The Hunter is a quest NPC who gives the Knight a Hunter’s Journal (essentially a bestiary of enemies in Hallownest).
The Knight - The Knight is the protagonist of Hollow Knighti, a child of the Pale King and the White Lady, as well as a discarded Vessel.
The Last Stag - The Last Stag is a gruff, kindly stag beetle who offers to transport the Knight across Hallownest.
The Pale King - The Pale King is a higher being and ancient Wyrm, the former monarch of Hallownest.
The Radiance - The Radiance is the real (albeit secret) final boss in the game. She is the true heart of the Infection.
The White Lady - The White Lady is a higher being and the former queen of Hallownest. She is also the mother of the Vessels (including the Knight).
Tiso - Tiso is an arrogant adventurer found in the Colosseum of Fools, battling simply in pursuit of a true challenge.
Tuk - Tuk is a merchant and scavenger who sells Rancid Eggs.
Unn - Unn is a higher being and the source of all life in Greenpath; she can gift the Knight the Shape of Unn Charm.
Willoh - Willoh is a giraffe weevil who can be found eating fungus in Queen’s Station.
Zote the Mighty - Zote is a traveler and foreigner to Hallownest who comes to the kingdom in an attempt to win glory for himself. Although he believes the Knight is inferior, he often gets into trouble and must be saved.
