Do you want to delete a Messenger account from your Android? As long as you have multiple Messenger accounts, you can easily delete the accounts that aren't logged in. However, if you cannot remove any accounts, you can mute or delete them from your phone. Read on to learn more.

Removing a Facebook Messenger Account on Android

1. Tap ☰ in Messenger.
2. Tap your profile icon.
3. Swipe left on the account you want to remove.
4. Tap the red trash icon and then Remove.

   Open Messenger on your Android. It’s the blue chat bubble icon with a white lightning bolt inside. You’ll usually find it on the home screen or in the app drawer.

   • You can remove an account from Messenger if another account is logged in. If there is only one Messenger account in the app, you won't have the option to delete it.

   Tap ☰. You'll see this three-line menu icon in the top left corner of your screen.

   Tap your profile photo. It’s at the top-left corner of the screen and prompts all the Messenger accounts you have on your Android to drop down.

   Swipe left on the account you want to remove. Drag your finger from the right side of the screen to the left, and more options will appear on the right.

   • You must keep at least one account linked to Messenger on your Android. You won't be able to remove an account if it's the only one signed in.

   • You can still use this account to sign into Messenger on any Android at any time.

   Open Messenger on your Android using the account you want to mute. It’s the blue chat bubble icon with a white lightning bolt inside. You’ll usually find it on the home screen or in the app drawer.

   • Change your profile by tapping your profile picture and then the profile you want to use.
   • This method won't get rid of the account on your Android, but you will no longer get notifications from that Messenger profile. Use this method if you have an account on Messenger that you can't delete, like a page account.

   • This toggle will say "Off" if it's already off.

   Select how long you want notifications muted. Tap an option to fill in the circle, then tap OK.

   • You can also tap the toggle next to "Show notification dot" if you do not want a visual indication of activity on that Messenger account.

   • This method removes the Messenger account from your phone and gets rid of the Facebook account tied to that Messenger account.

  Download it again and go to settings and click delete. If that does not work, you may have to factory reset or restart your phone. If that doesn't work, then call your provider.
