Are you getting too many notifications from your friends on Snapchat? To stop the "Shared a Snap with you" alert, you can easily mute the user. To stop other alerts, such as Story Posts and Mentions, you can change your notification settings. Here's how to change who you get Snapchat notifications from using your iPhone, iPad, or Android.

1. Tap the chat tab.
2. Tap and hold the user.
3. Tap Chat and Notification Settings.
4. Tap Notification Settings.
5. Toggle on Mute Chats.
6. Toggle on Mute Calls.

Changing for Specific People

   Tap the chat icon. This is at the bottom of the screen, to the left of the camera icon.

   • If you want to stop receiving notifications from specific users or groups, you can choose to mute them.
   • If you want to stop a user from interacting with you at all, you can block them.

   Tap and hold the user you want to mute. A pop-up menu will open.

   "Mute Chats". The switch will turn green. All message notifications will be muted for this user.

   Tap Done. Your changes will be saved. If you want to unmute the user, open the Notification Settings menu again and toggle the switches off.

   • Use this method if you want to stop receiving general notifications for Mentions, Birthdays, Story Posts, and more.

   • If you want to turn off notifications for Stories you follow, scroll to the bottom, and tap Manage Story Notifications. Tap the user to remove them.

Why do I get notifications when someone adds to their Story?

   If you have alerts on for a user, you'll be notified when they post Stories. Even if you have every other Snapchat notification turned off, if you are still receiving notifications that someone has posted on their Story, notifications for that user are still enabled. This setting is separate from the other notifications, so you may have missed it.

   • To turn off notifications for a specific user, do the following:
     • Tap your profile icon and select Settings (the cog icon).
     • Tap Notifications.
     • Scroll all the way down and tap Manage Story Notifications.
     • Select the user to stop their Story notifications.
   • If you continue to receive Story notifications in Snapchat, you can choose to silence all Snapchat notifications instead.
     • On iPhone: Open the Settings app and tap Apps. Go to Snapchat > Notifications and toggle off Allow Notifications.
     • On Android: Open the Settings app and tap Notifications. Go to App Notifications > Snapchat and then toggle off notifications.
