- Tap the gear icon.
- Scroll down and tap Clear data.
- Tap Clear Conversations.
- Tap the X next to each conversation you want to clear.

Steps
Deleting Conversations in Settings

Open the Snapchat app. It's the yellow icon with a white ghost inside. Snapchat opens to your camera screen.
-
Tap your profile photo. It's at the top-left corner of the camera screen. This displays your profile.Advertisement
-
Tap the gear icon. You'll see it at the top-right corner of your profile.

Scroll down and tap Clear Data. It's the top option under the "Privacy Controls" header.[1]

-
Tap Clear to confirm. This removes the conversation from your conversation list.
-
Tap X on other conversations to clear them. To clear all conversations, you'll need to tap the X on all of the remaining conversations in the list, and then confirm each deletion.[2]

Prevent a conversation from reappearing in your Chats (optional). If you don’t want a cleared conversation to reappear in your Chats, you'll need to block the person you were chatting with to prevent them from sending you another message. Here's how:
- Tap your profile photo at the top-left corner of the Chats or Camera screen.
- Scroll down and tap My Friends.
- Long-press on someone on your friends list.
- Tap Block.
- Tap the gear at the top-right corner of your profile.
- Scroll down and tap Contact Me under the "Privacy Controls" header.
- Select My Friends to ensure that only your friends can contact you.
Deleting Individual Conversations
-
Open the Chat page. If you're not already on the Chats page, tap the speech bubble icon at the bottom of your screen to open the page.
-
Long-press on a conversation. Place your finger on the conversation on your screen, then press and hold for a second. A menu will pop up.
-
Tap Chat and Notification Settings. This will bring you to a menu where you can change the settings for this chat.
-
Tap Clear from Chat Feed. This option is in red text, and at the top of the menu.
-
Tap Clear. This will immediately clear out the conversation. This does not delete the conversation, however. The only way to delete a conversation is to block the user.
