Trends move quickly on TikTok, so if you’re curious (or confused) about the “Eye Shape Chart Challenge,” you’re not alone! This viral challenge involves comparing your eyes to different images on a chart so you can determine your eye shape. For more information, including how to film and post the challenge yourself, read on.
Things You Should Know
- The Eye Shape Chart Challenge is a TikTok trend that people use to find their eye shape.
- To film the Eye Shape Chart Challenge, save a photo of the chart from Google Images and apply the “Eyes and Mouth Overlay” effect on TikTok.
- Or, film the challenge on Snapchat by downloading the chart and applying the “Face Builder” filter.
Steps
Filming the Challenge on TikTok
-
Save a photo of the Eye Shape Chart to your camera roll. Find the chart by searching “TikTok eye shape chart” on Google Images. If you can’t save the image directly, take a screenshot of the chart and resize it to 9x16.
-
Open TikTok and click the “+” button at the bottom of the screen. This button opens up the camera screen so you can create a new video.
-
Hit “Effects” and apply the “Eyes and Mouth Overlay” effect. The effects button is the square to the left of the record button. Once the effects bar pops up at the bottom of the screen, tap the magnifying glass icon, type in “Eyes and Mouth Overlay” in the search bar, then hit the effect to apply it.
- The “Eyes and Mouth Overlay” effect removes your real background and only leaves your eyes and mouth visible.
-
Pick the Eye Shape Chart as the background and make your video. Use two fingers to pinch the screen and adjust your eye size so it fits the eye shapes on the chart. Hit the red record button on the bottom center of the screen, then use one finger to drag your eyes over each image and find your eye shape.
- To upload your video, click the red button with the white checkmark (near the bottom right of the screen), then “Next,” and then “Post.”
Filming the Challenge on Snapchat
-
Download the Eye Shape Chart to your camera roll. Find a photo of the chart by searching “TikTok eye shape chart” on Google Images.[1]
-
Open Snapchat and go to the camera screen. If you aren’t automatically on the camera screen when you open up the app, click on the camera icon located in the bottom center of the screen.
-
Tap “Explore Lenses” and apply the “Face Builder” filter. Scroll to the far right of the record button (the hollow white circle near the bottom right of the screen), then click on the button that’s a magnifying glass with a star. Type in “Face Builder” in the search bar, then click on the filter to apply it.[2]
-
Set the Eye Shape Chart as the background and film your video. With two fingers, pinch the screen to adjust your eye size so it fits the eye shapes on the chart. Hit the record button, then use one finger to drag your eyes over each eye shape in the chart.[3]
-
Save your Snapchat video and upload it to TikTok. After you’re done recording, tap the download icon in the bottom left corner of the screen to save the video to your phone. Open TikTok, click the “+” button in the bottom center of the screen, then select the Upload button to post your video.

-
After doing the Eye Shape Chart Challenge, incorporate new makeup techniques that suit your eye shape. If you find out that you have droopy eyes, for example, draw a wider line with your eyeliner to accentuate and open up your eyes.[4]Thanks
