This article will show you how to remove an effect in Adobe Illustrator.

How do you clear effects in Adobe Illustrator?

Click on the object that has the effect. Select “Window” from the toolbar, then tap on “Appearance” in the pop-up menu. In the Appearance box, click the effect you want to remove, then click on the button that looks like a circle with a line slashed through it.

  1. The example below features a 3D effect.
  2. Follow this path: Window > Appearance

  3. Then click on the Clear Appearance button (2nd from left on bottom of palette).
  4. Simply reverse the process to add the effect back.
