Perhaps you want to take a break from Tinder. Maybe you found someone, or you're just tired of dead-end conversations. But if you delete your account, won't you lose all your matches and conversations? While you can no longer use the "pause" feature to close your Tinder account temporarily, there are still other ways to hide your profile for as long as you need to–you can hide your Tinder profile, or, if you have Tinder Plus, you can go incognito so nobody will know you're using the app. Keep reading to learn ways to pause your Tinder account.

3. Tap the settings gear.
4. Toggle off Enable Discovery.

Hiding Your Tinder Account

   Open Tinder and tap your profile icon. It's the icon that resembles a person in the lower-right corner of the Tinder app. Hiding your account will prevent your profile from appearing in the card stack, and you will not be able to swipe on any other profiles. However, you will still be able to continue conversations you have going, and users who have liked your profile will be able to view your profile and match with you.

   • Cancel any subscriptions you might have. If you subscribe to Tinder Plus, Gold, or Platinum, you will want to cancel it before you continue. Hiding your account does not automatically cancel your subscriptions. You can cancel your subscription in the Tinder app or through your subscriptions in the Google Play Store on Android or the Settings app on iPhone.

   Scroll down until you see Enable Discovery. Tap the toggle next to Enable Discovery to turn it off. This will hide your Tinder account from other users.

   • To enable Discovery again and unhide your account, simply go back to this spot in your settings and toggle Enable Discovery again.

Using Incognito Mode

   Sign up for Tinder Plus or higher. Incognito Mode is a feature available to Tinder Plus members and above. It will hide your account from anyone you do not swipe right on first. This means you get to choose who views your profile.

   Enable Incognito Mode. It's below the "Discovery" or "Visibility" header. Tap the toggle switch to enable this mode. Then tap the option to confirm that you want to enable incognito mode. This will hide your account from those you have not swiped right on first.

Deleting Your Account

   Tap your profile icon in the Tinder app. If you don't want to hide your account or don't want to sign up for a Tinder subscription, you'll have to delete it if you don't want to appear to other people on Tinder.

   • Remember to cancel Tinder subscriptions. If you subscribe to Tinder Plus, Gold, or Platinum, you will want to cancel it before you continue. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel your subscriptions. You can cancel your subscription in the Tinder app or through your subscriptions in the Google Play Store on Android or the Settings app on iPhone.

   Scroll down and tap Delete Account. It's at the bottom of the Settings menu.

   Confirm that you want to delete your account. After deleting your account, you will have 90 days to return to Tinder and cancel the deletion. To do this, simply open Tinder again to begin the process of retrieving your account.

   • The 90-day deletion window is not available in all locations. If it is not available where you live, you'll need to create a new Tinder account if you want to use the app again within 90 days of deleting your account.
   • If you decide to delete your account, you will lose all of your matches and conversations. If you want to return to Tinder, you will need to create a new account.
