Although there's no option to sign out of the LINE app on your main iPhone or iPad,, you can log out on sub-devices, such as your iPad. You can also use your main device to log out of LINE on other devices remotely. To log out on your main device, you’ll need to offload the app. In this article, we’ll talk you through how to log out of LINE on your iPhone or iPad, whether it’s your main device or a sub. We’ll also explain workarounds so you can keep people from contacting you without uninstalling LINE.

How to Log Out of LINE on iOS

If you’re on your main iPhone, the only way to log out is to offload the app. On a sub-device, such as your iPad, log out by going to Settings > Account > Log out. Want to log out of other devices from your main device? Tap Settings > Account > Devices and tap Log out next to a device.

Offload the LINE app. There’s no logout option in LINE on your main device (the device you used to set up your LINE account–typically your phone). However, you can still sign out by offloading the app. Use this option to keep your chats and settings. Offloading temporarily removes the app from your iPhone or iPad until you're ready to use it again—at that point, you can quickly reload the app without even having to sign back in again. To offload LINE:
- Open your iPhone or iPad's Settings app, which is the gray gear icon on the home screen.
- Tap General.
- Tap iPhone Storage or iPad Storage.
- Scroll down and tap LINE. It may take a moment for it to appear. If you don’t see it in the list of apps, tap Show All.
- Tap Offload App, and then tap it again to confirm.
- Once the app is offloaded, its icon will remain on your home screen with a cloud icon beneath it. Tapping the icon will re-download the app. Once the app is reinstalled, re-opening it will log you back in, and all of your settings and chats will remain in place.

Open LINE on your sub device. The device you used to initially create your LINE account (usually your phone) is your main device. If you log in with the same account on another device, such as an iPad, that will become a sub-device.^{[1]

- You can’t use an iPhone as a sub-device, only a main device. However, you can use an iPad as either a main or a sub-device.
You’ll see this option at the bottom of the left-hand menu panel.
It’s near the top of the Settings menu, under the Personal info header.
A notice will pop up telling you that your widgets, shortcuts, and other data will remain on your iPad even if you log out of LINE. Tap OK to confirm, then tap OK again.

Open Settings in LINE on your main device. If you’re logged into multiple devices in LINE, you can log out of sub-devices (like your iPad) remotely using your main device (usually your iPhone). To start, tap the gear icon in the top right corner of the app to open Settings.^{[3]

- If you don’t see the Settings icon, tap Home at the bottom left corner of the screen.
- If your main device is an iPad instead of an iPhone, you’ll find Settings at the bottom of the left-hand menu pane.

Prevent people from finding you on LINE. If you don't want people to be able to contact you on LINE unless you're already friends with them, you can block all new friend requests and chats from anyone who isn't on your friends list. Here's how:
- First, to remove unwanted people from your friends list who've already been added, tap Friends on the LINE main screen to expand your friends list, tap-and-hold the person you want to remove, and then select Delete.
- Now, tap the gear icon at the top-right corner of LINE and select Friends.
- Slide the "Auto-add friends" switch to the Off (gray) position to prevent LINE from automatically adding people from your iPhone or iPad's contact list.
- Slide the "Allow others to add me" switch to the Off (gray) position to prevent people who know your phone number from adding you on LINE.
- Tap the back button to return to the menu and select Privacy.
- Slide the "Allow others to add me by user ID" switch to Off (gray) to prevent people who know your username from adding you to their contacts.
- Slide the "Allow friend requests" switch to Off (gray) to prevent anyone with LINE from adding you to their contact list.
- Slide the "Filter messages" switch to On (green) to prevent people other than your friends from messaging you.

Turn off all voice calls. If the issue is that you don't want people to be able to call you through LINE, you can block all voice calls in the app. With voice calls disabled, nobody will be able to call you through LINE. To disable voice calls:
- Tap the gear at the top-right corner of LINE.
- Tap Calls.
- Toggle the "Allow voice calls" switch to the Off (gray) position.^{[4]
