Facebook Dating is unique when compared to other dating profiles because your Dating account is linked to another social media profile—your normal Facebook account. This can lead to all kinds of funky ban scenarios where it’s unclear how you got banned or why. We’ll help you parse what’s going on so that you get back on the Dating platform fast.

How to Get Facebook Dating Back

If you disabled or deactivated your Facebook account, Facebook Dating will ban you for roughly 7 days. Reactivate your account and wait a week before logging back in. For content-based bans, your best options are waiting the ban out, appealing the ban, and making a new Facebook profile.

   Reactivate your Facebook profile and wait 7 days. If you deleted or paused your Facebook profile, reactivate it. You’ll still be banned for 7 days, but Facebook Dating will be available again after a week passes.

   • The 7-day temporary ban is designed to keep scammers from activating and reactivating their profiles to avoid being reported.
   • If you’re struggling to reactivate your account because Facebook disabled it, consult our guide.

   Wait for any temporary bans to resolve themselves. It actually appears to be pretty rare that Facebook permanently bans users from Facebook Dating. If you’ve been hit with a 1-, 3-, 7-, or 30-day ban, the best option is to simply wait it out.

   • In the meantime, a short pause on Facebook Dating could represent a good opportunity to try out Tinder, Hinge, or some other dating platform!

   Appeal the ban if you believe it was unearned. Log into your normal Facebook account and open the Support Center. Poke around and look for the “Appeal” button (it appears to be in a different location depending on the browser/platform). Select that and fill out the form to request an appeal for your Facebook Dating ban.

   • You can also try emailing appeals@fb.com. Explain your case and ask for an appeal to your ban.

   You deleted your Facebook profile. You must have an active Facebook profile to gain access to Facebook Dating. You may think that it’s okay to delete or deactivate your normal profile, since your Facebook Dating profile is actually a totally different profile/account, but Facebook will automatically cut you off from its Dating platform if you do that.

   • If you’ve reactivated your profile, you’ll see that you’re still banned from Facebook Dating. Don’t worry! This is a temporary ban and you’ll regain access soon.

   You used fake photos or a fake name. Facebook Dating will ban you if your Dating profile and your normal Facebook profile do not have matching data. If your photos are of a totally different person or your name/birthday don’t match, they’ll ban your account.

   You asked someone for personal information. It’s against Facebook Dating’s terms of service to try and extract any kind of identifying info from your matches. If you’ve probed for some info and your match reported you for it, you could be banned.

   • It seems odd to us that you could get in trouble for asking for a phone number on a dating app, but alas, we do not run Facebook.

   You violated the Facebook community standards. The same rules that apply to Facebook apply to Facebook dating. If you’ve said anything that could be interpreted as hateful, bigoted, racist, etc. you could be blocked from using the Facebook Dating app.

What if Facebook doesn't lift the ban?

   Create a brand new Facebook profile. It is technically against Facebook’s rules to sign up for multiple accounts, but we won’t tell if you don’t. Just make sure you use a slightly different name (turn John into Johnny, for example) and don’t use any photos that appear on your other profile.

   • Just FYI, you can (and will) be banned if your second account appears to copy or replicate your other account.

   Get a new phone number. We have no clue why this appears to work, but it looks like some users have had success getting around Facebook Dating bans by changing the phone number associated with the account. Go into your Facebook account and click on your profile on the top right. Select “Settings” then “Mobile.” Add a new phone number and try deleting your old one.

   • If you don’t have a second phone number, you can try downloading an app (like Sideline or 2ndLine) that will provide you with a second number exclusively for situations like this.

   Get a new phone. Again, it’s unclear why this works, but some users have gotten around Facebook Dating bans by simply logging into their account from a new phone (this likely works in scenarios when you’re shadowbanned, but we’re not sure about full account bans). If you have a second phone you can borrow it’s worth testing this out!

   • If you’re due for an upgrade with your phone carrier, now is as good a time as any to get a new phone!

   Try buying Meta Verified and talk to a real person. If you’re really pining to get back on Facebook Dating and you just can’t seem to make it happen, you can try buying Meta Verified. Members of Meta Verified get access to live customer support chat (which normal Facebook members do not), so you can plead your case to an actual agent. It might work, it might not, but it’s basically your only shot at this point.

   How long does Facebook ban you from dating? There are multiple ban lengths that Facebook will use depending on the indiscretion, but the 7-day ban appears to be their most popular.

   • Unfortunately, Facebook doesn’t tell you how long you’re banned for. You’ll need to just pop back on periodically to see if you’re still banned.

   Why can't I get FB dating? There are a handful of potential reasons you may not be able to activate or use Facebook Dating, and it may have nothing to do with anything you did per se. It could be:

   • You’re under 18. Facebook Dating automatically blocks you if your age is under 18.
   • Your account isn’t old enough. You can’t sign up for Facebook Dating if your account is under 30 days old.
   • You live in a country where Facebook Dating isn’t available. Facebook Dating isn’t open to every country. You can find a full list of the banned countries here.
