Things You Should Know

  • To get a Gholdengo, you first must capture a Gimmighoul.
  • After you get a Gimmighoul, collect 999 Gimmighoul Coins.
  • With 999 Gimmighoul Coins, level up your Gimmighoul to level 38 and watch it evolve into Gholdengo.

  1. Gimmighoul frequents areas like watchtowers and ruins in their chest form.
    • Some areas include South Province, East Province, West Province, North Province, Glaseado Mountain, Casseroya Lake, and Asado Desert.[1]
    • If you find Gimmighoul not in a chest, you can only capture it using Pokémon Go. You cannot capture a wandering Gimmighoul in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
  2. Once you see a chest, go up to it and interact with it. If it's a Gimmighoul, the battle will commence so you can capture it!

  3. You can't damage this Pokémon with any type of attack. All you can do is capture it.
    • It will attack you back, but its attacks do low damage, so you'll want to use a Pokémon with a good health pool.

  1. That may seem like a lot at first glance, but you get Gimmighoul coins every time you defeat a Gimmighoul and by talking to wandering Gimmighouls.
    • Go to the areas where you previously looked, and Gimmighoul will respawn after some time, so you can endlessly farm for those coins.[2]
    • Tip: When you see a Gimmighoul chest, save your game immediately. This way, you can perform a soft reset (turn the game off, then back on) and battle the Gimmighoul chest for more coins.[3]
  2. Once you have the 999 Gimmighoul Coins, you can level your Pokémon! It'll evolve into Gholdengo once it levels up (to level 38), and you have 999 Gimmighoul Coins in your bag.
    • You will lose those coins as Gimmighoul evolves.

Tips

  • If you don't have Pokémon Scarlet or Violet, you can still get Gimmighoul in Pokémon Go with a little bit of luck and cooperation. Use friends to set up golden lures to get as many Gimmighouls in your area as you can, or, if you rather play solo, hop from PokeStop to PokéStop, hoping one of them has a golden lure on it.
  • Get Gholdengo in Pokémon Go the same way as Pokémon Scarlet and Violet - evolve Gimmighoul with 999 Coins.
