What are some romantic things to say to your girlfriend?
This is a little bit embarrassing, but I’ve got a girlfriend for the first time in my life and I’m just totally lost on how to do the whole romance thing. My brain just doesn’t work that way and I have a hard time sharing my feelings. How do you come up with romantic things to say to your girlfriend? What can I text her or tell her that could sweep her off her feet and make her feel good?

Give her little compliments and tell her the things you like about her or notice about her. You can also tell her you're thinking of her. For example, say, "You've been on my mind all day." If you think she'd like a more over-the-top approach, say, "I could stare into your eyes for infinity and feel like I'm in heaven."
You can also tell her about dates you want to take her on. Set the stage by saying, "There's this great place I want to take you to hear live music this weekend." That will help keep your relationship fresh and make her feel special and like you're putting in effort.

If this is something your girlfriend has explicitly expressed she wants to hear more of from you, it’s important to understand what emotionally impacts her. What’s her love language? If she responds to words of affirmation, try complimenting her in a way that feels natural to you, maybe through handwritten notes, texts, or in-the-moment observations about why you love her. If she connects more with actions, pairing words with small, thoughtful gestures can go a long way. If saying things out loud feels intimidating, start by writing down what you want to say. Think of the little things you appreciate about her, and practice putting those thoughts into words. The more you do it, the easier it will become. You can always watch some of her favorite movies, which might give you some hints, too.

When it comes to saying romantic things to your girlfriend, HOW you say it is just as important as what you say. For the "what" part, say something about how your girlfriend makes you feel or pay her a sincere compliment. For the "how" part, make eye contact, get in closer, pause, deliver your line sincerely (adding in an optional tender touch, like putting your hand on her hand/arm), and give her a sweet smile. That'll melt her!

You can compliment her, tell her how lucky you are to have her, tell her how much you love her. And tell her you enjoy spending time with her.

The little things that show you care are romantic! My boyfriend and I are long distance right now so I mostly have text ideas, but good morning and good night texts, "I can't wait to see you tonight" texts, "This made me think of you" texts all make me feel warm and fuzzy when I get them from my boyfriend. It's nice to know that he's thinking of me throughout the day :). It's also sweet when he remembers something I mentioned to him and sends a text about it, like "I hope you have a good time hanging out with Erika!" if I had told him I was grabbing lunch with my friend.
