Looking for best places to travel solo travel as a female in the US
Hi everyone! I'm really interested in traveling the globe and seeing as much of the world as I can, but I don't have anyone to go with me! That doesn't stop me though, I just need to know which places are safe for a gal on her own like me so I can actually relax and have some fun. I'm open to any type of place, so feel free to recc anywhere you've loved. Bonus points if it's super affordable! Tysm!

Generally, the US is pretty safe, which is wonderful. Cities can be really great for solo travelers because it's just so easy to get around. I always try and avoid situations where you're in a really remote location, might not be able to call an Uber easily, and you're stranded. That's a safety concern.
One city that I think is great for solo travel is New York. I feel like some people worry that it's too dangerous, but it's a city where so many people are eating alone and walking around alone, so it's just really easy to blend in as a solo traveler. There are also so many museums, which is a wonderful solo travel activity.
Other cities that would make for a wonderful solo trip would be Chicago, Nashville, or somewhere like Sedona, which has a lot of spa-type resort hotels. You could also do a road trip. If you’re more into nature, I did the Pacific Coast Highway solo down the California coast, which was a really wonderful trip – very safe, easy, lots of places to stop, kept myself busy. Those are places that immediately come to mind for me.

Phoenix is a top pick, especially for wellness retreats. I also recommend Tampa–St. Pete–Clearwater. Lots to do, safe, and fun. Those are my go-to recommendations.
I’d recommend you share your location with people you trust. Let them know your itinerary, lodging, and transport. Also, invest in good travel insurance; it’s not just for delays or lost baggage. Emergencies happen, and you want to be covered.

The U.S. is very safe for solo female travelers, especially in tourist areas. Just follow local recommendations and trust your instincts, like you would anywhere.
There are tons of solo travel options—train tours, national parks, cultural trips in the South, or historical tours on the East Coast. I’m partial to Virginia because I’m originally from Charlottesville. Cruises are also solo-friendly, including Alaska cruises, which are technically domestic aside from a short stop in Vancouver.
Travel agents can help customize solo trips to your needs and interests, making it safer, easier, and more rewarding.

It's a great question. For solo female travelers, I’d recommend cities that are walkable and well-populated. Austin, Texas is fantastic. New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles are all solid options. I also love Napa, Seattle (which is one of my favorite cities!), and places like Maine, Salem, and Boston. These are great for solo trips—safe and packed with things to do.

There are a number of small group travel companies that welcome solo women travelers. Some are for women only, others are mixed groups. Check out Women Traveling Together (women only) and OAT (Overseas Adventure Travel). OAT has mixed groups, but no single supplement (usually) for solo travelers and you get your own room at no additional charge.

There is so much to do in NYC! You have to have your wits about you in some areas but there are usually lots of people around, so you're typically pretty safe. NYC is also walkable, so you don't have to pay as much for transportation. There's also a lot of cheap, good food so you can cut costs there if affordability is a big concern for you.

San Diego is a lovely place to travel and is safe for solo female travelers. It has great weather year round, delicious food, and beautiful beaches. The people are generally very friendly too. One downside is that it can be expensive to travel to, so it's not the most affordable option.

I've been traveling solo for a couple years now, and there are DEFINITELY some incredible places where you can feel really safe and comfortable alone.
I really loved Boston as an East Coast destination just for all the history! It's beautiful in all the gardens and historic districts, especially if you can get there in the fall. Even better, the city is super walkable and easy to get around.
If you love nature and getting outdoors, Sedona, AZ is a top choice of mine. When the sunset hits those desert rocks *chef's kiss*. There are tons of little shops in the city and there even a couple cool ghost towns nearby too.
It's a little bit more pricey, but Chicago is a really nice place too. The touristy areas of the city have always felt really safe, and the L-train can get you around the city for cheap.
That's all I've got for now, but I'll be scouring the rest of the comments for new destinations too.
