Learn how to evolve Dreepy in Pokémon Scarlet, Violet, Sword, and Shield
PDF download Download Article

If you caught a Dreepy in Pokémon Violet, you might be wondering how exactly you evolve it. Dreepy evolves into Drakloak, which then evolves into Dragapult—which is regarded as one of the strongest Pokémon in the game. Thankfully, getting your Dreepy to evolve isn't a difficult process, just a time-consuming one as it requires your Dreepy to be a very high level. In this article we'll teach you where to find Dreepy as well as the evolution requirements to evolve it into a Drakloak and Dragapult.

Things You Should Know

  • Dreepy evolves into Drakloak at level 50, and Dragapult at level 60.
  • Dreepy and its evolutions require more EXP to level up, so leveling them will take longer than other Pokémon.
  • Dreepy can only be found in Pokémon Violet; if you want one and have Pokémon Scarlet, you'll need to trade or Tera Raid Battle against one.

Evolving Dreepy

  1. You can use Rare Candies, EXP Candies, or battle experience to level up your Dreepy. Once your Dreepy reaches level 50, it will evolve into a Drakloak. If you choose to use battle experience, note that Dreepy (and its evolutions) are part of the slow evolution group, which means they take the longest to evolve as they need more experience points to level up.[3]
    • The reason for this is that Dreepy's final evolution Dragapult is known as a "pseudo-legendary" Pokémon.[4] Pseudo-legendary Pokémon are more powerful than most other non-legendary Pokémon due to having naturally high base stats, which in turn makes them harder to raise.
  2. You can use Rare Candies, EXP Candies, or battle experience to level up your Drakloak. Once your Drakloak hits level 60, it will evolve into a Dragapult.[5]
    • If you don't feel like leveling up a Dreepy, you can catch Drakloak (in Pokémon Violet only) in North Province Area One, Area Two, Area Three, Casseroya Lake, and Glaseado Mountain, as well as in 4-star Tera Raid Battles.[6] Dragapult cannot be found normally in the wild, but does appear in 5- and 6-star Tera Raid Battles.[7]
    • In Sword and Shield, you can catch a Drakloak and Dragapult in Axew's Eye and Rolling Fields Max Raid Battles. You can also find them in the Old Cemetery in the Expansion Pass.
