How to Comment and Delete Comments on Instagram Photos

Instagram is popular for its simple and accessible commenting system. This allows almost anyone to comment and like your photos. Sometimes, however, these comments can get out of hand. Luckily, you can easily remove comments on Instagram, whether it's on your own post or another post. Here's how to comment and delete comments on Instagram photos using your iPhone, iPad, Android, and computer.

Quick Steps to Delete Comments

Navigate to an Instagram post.
Tap the speech bubble icon.
Tap and hold the comment.
Tap Delete.

Make sure you are signed in to your Instagram account. When you open the Instagram app, you will be taken to your Feed.
You can comment on your own posts or any posts from users that you are following. Tap on the post to open it.

Enter your comment. Tap the comment field at the bottom of the screen to open your on-screen keyboard. You can enter any text you'd like; just be sure it falls under Instagram's Community Guidelines.
- Tap the sticker icon on the right side of the field to upload an avatar or GIF.
- Instagram may suggest emojis at the top of your keyboard. Tap an emoji to quickly add it to your comment.

Tap the blue arrow. This can be found on the right of the text field. Your comment will be posted.
- If you made a mistake or you want to remove your comment, you can easily delete it.

Tap Delete. This is the red trash can icon. You'll only see this option if you made the comment.
- If you see a comment that is inappropriate or offensive, you can tap and hold the comment and then tap Report.

Delete multiple comments (optional). If you have a lot of comments you need to remove at once, you can do so easily using your activity options. Do the following:
- Tap your profile picture.
- Tap ☰ Menu.
- Tap Your activity underneath How you use Instagram.
- Tap Comments underneath Interaction.

- Tap Select in the top-right.

Currently, you can only delete your own comments on other people's Instagram posts and comments that other people added to your own posts. If you didn't make the comment you want to have removed from somebody else's photo, you can either ask the uploader to remove it or report the comment to Instagram.
If you're having trouble deleting your own comments on Instagram, try clearing your app's cache. If you're using an Android, you can clear the cache in your Settings. If you're on an iPhone or iPad, you'll need to reinstall the Instagram app to clear its cache.

If I delete someone's comment from my Instagram picture, will the person be notified or otherwise know it is deleted?
