Roblox recently introduced an update to allow swearing in certain 17+ games. However, this doesn't mean you can say or type anything you want without getting banned. Here's everything you need to know about using swears and cuss words in 17+ Roblox games.
Is Swearing Allowed in Roblox Games?
You can only swear in certain 17+ Experiences that have enabled strong language. Swearing can't be directed at any other user or used to bully and harass others. You can use strong language to express yourself after getting a jumpscare.
Steps
Verifying for 17+
-
Go to https://www.roblox.com/ in a web browser. You can use a mobile or desktop browser, but you must have a mobile device with a camera to start the verification process.
- You'll need a valid ID, such as a driver's license, passport, ID card, or residence permit.[2]
-
Open the Settings page. You can find this by clicking the cog icon in the top-right corner.
-
Select Account Info. This is in the panel on the left.
-
Click Verify My Age. You can find this underneath the Personal header. Make sure your birthday is correct.
- A pop-up window will open.
-
Scan the QR code. Use the camera on your mobile device.
-
Select Begin verifying. This will start the process.
-
Follow the on-screen instructions. You'll be asked to allow camera access.
- Scan your ID card.
- Capture a selfie.
- Wait for approval.
- When the verification process has been completed, you'll see pass or fail. If you passed, your account will be updated within a few minutes. Be sure to refresh your page or restart your app to see the changes.
Finding 17+ Experiences
-
Select Experiences. On mobile, this can be found at the bottom of the screen. On desktop, this can be found at the top.
-
Enter a search. Use the magnifying glass or search field to enter a term related to the kind of experience you want to play. You can also tap a category to browse popular categories.
-
Look for the Contains strong language tag. This tag will be underneath the Experience title, next to Ages 17+. If you see this tag, the creator has enabled strong language, and you will be able to use strong language (following the guidelines) without getting banned.
Appealing a Ban
-
Go to https://www.roblox.com/support in a web browser. If you aren't logged into your account, you'll need to manually enter some information.
- If you think you've been wrongfully banned on Roblox, you can appeal the ban as long as it's within 30 days of the ban.
-
Enter your birthday and select Next. Use the drop-down menu to enter it now.
-
Enter your account username and email address. If you aren't already logged in, you'll need to provide this information so Roblox can contact you back.
-
Enter a reason for the appeal. Under the Issue Details header, select the platform you play on. For the type of help, select Moderation and then Appeal Account.
- Use the description to enter a short explanation with why your account should be unbanned.
-
Select Submit. This will send your appeal to the Roblox support team. You should receive a response within 24 to 48 hours. ]
