Frogs are one of many animal mobs that can be bred in Minecraft. This wikiHow article teaches you how to breed frogs in Minecraft.

How do you breed frogs in Minecraft?

Get slimeballs by killing slime deep underground or in swamp biomes. Equip the slimeballs and feed them to two adult frogs, which can be found in swamp and mangrove biomes. They will lay eggs in the nearest water source, and all you have to do is wait for them to hatch and mature.

  1. You'll need slime to get frogs to breed. Slimeballs are dropped by slime mobs when slaughtered. You can find slime deep underground or in Swamp biomes.[1]

  2. Frogs spawn in groups of two to five in swamp and mangrove swamp biomes.
    • There are three different color variants for frogs, depending on what biome they are from. Frogs that spawn in temperate biomes are orange. Frogs that spawn in warm biomes are white. Frogs that spawn in cold climates are green.
    • Orange frogs can be found in swamp biomes. White frogs can be found in mangrove swamp biomes. Green frogs do not spawn naturally in the overworld. You will need to breed frogs in a cold biome to produce green frogs.

  3. Once you equip slime, frogs will follow you within 6 block spaces. You can get frogs to follow you anywhere, including into Nether portals or End portals.
  4. You just need to feed one slimeball to each frog. Press the left trigger on game consoles or the right mouse button on PC to feed the frogs slimeballs. This will put the frogs in love mode and cause them to breed. They will lay eggs in the nearest water source.
    • Make sure there is a water source nearby for them to lay eggs in.
  5. It takes approximately 3 - 6 minutes for the eggs to hatch. When the eggs hatch, they will spawn tadpoles.
    • Make sure there are no axolotls around. They will attack tadpoles, but not frogs.[2]
    • Tadpoles can be transported using a bucket. The adult frog's color will be determined when they mature into an adult frog.
    • Make sure the tadpoles have plenty of water to swim around in.
  6. It takes approximately 20 minutes for tadpoles to turn into adult frogs. You can speed up the process by feeding them slimeballs.[3]
