Ruled by Mars and Pluto, Scorpio has the reputation for being dark, intense, and more than a little mysterious. Private, emotionally intense Scorpio might just be the most misunderstood sign in the zodiac—for good reason. It takes a special person to really understand and connect with Scorpio, and deep connections are what the Scorpion is all about. Generally, air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) tend to be too superficial and flighty for the intense, serious Scorpio. Other water signs (Cancer, Pisces) usually get it and can be some of the best matches for Scorpio.^{[1]

Gemini Scorpio's needs in a relationship are at odds with Gemini's. These two have a hard time seeing eye to eye on a basic level. As an air sign, Gemini is light and carefree, getting bored easily and flitting around from one topic to the next. Water sign Scorpio, on the other hand, is heavy and intense, preferring more profound and—some might say—obsessive fixations. A Gemini craves freedom and constant change.^{[2]
