Want to use your TracFone on another carrier's network? You might need to unlock your phone if you're traveling to an area without TracFone coverage, like traveling abroad. This wikiHow article will show you the easiest way to obtain TracFone's unlock code and use it to switch to a new mobile provider. We'll also cover the requirements you'll need to meet to qualify.

4. Confirm your phone number.

   Go to tfwunlockpolicy.com or call 1-888-442-5102. You can start the unlocking process online or by calling. You can visit the website on your locked phone as well (even without the TracFone SIM card)! You'll need your IMEI (the serial number will work as well), which you can find here:

   • Make sure you meet the requirements to unlock your TracFone.
   • Open Settings.
   • Tap About or About phone.
   • Find your IMEI or Serial number and copy the numbers. If you don't see any of this information, tap Status.
     • You can also dial *#06# on your TracFone to see your IMEI and serial numbers.
     • If you purchased a phone before 2023, you may need to call if the phone cannot be unlocked remotely.

   Enter your phone number or serial number. You can also use your IMEI number. If you're calling, you will need to provide the same information.

   • Make sure to select the "I am not a robot" box on the site so you can continue.
   • Tap Verify Eligibility on the site to proceed.
     • You'll see whether or not your phone is eligible to be unlocked. If your phone is eligible, continue to the next steps.

   Enter your phone number. You might need to confirm the number on the service line that you want to unlock. Skip this step if this page doesn't appear for you.

   • Tap Continue to get to the next page.

   Enter your first and last names, your email address, and a contact number. If you see that your phone number is eligible to be unlocked, you need to continue with this form.

   • Tap Submit to finalize the process.
   • You'll see an "Order Summary" page with codes to unlock your phone. You'll need these codes in the next few steps, so copy both codes in order.
     • You'll also get an email with the same codes.

   Go to your Phone app and dial #TFUNLOCK#. That's #83865625#. The TF Unlock Menu will open.

   Enter the first code. Tap Submit when you're done.

   • "Processing" will appear on the page once you've entered the second code.
   • If the unlocking was successful, you'll see "Codes processed successfully… Device Unlocked."

   You have to meet these criteria to unlock a TracFone:

   • The cellphone must be in working condition and turned ON.
   • The cellphone has not been reported stolen or lost, and there are no indicators of fraud.
   • The cellphone was activated with Verizon Value service by purchasing and redeeming an airtime plan on that specific phone ("Activation")
   • For all cellphones activated before November 23, 2021, on any carrier network and all cellphones activated on the T-Mobile or AT&T networks on or after November 23, 2021, the cellphone will be remotely unlocked upon customer request after twelve (12) months of active paid service.
   • For all cellphones activated on the Verizon network on or after November 23, 2021, the cellphone will be remotely unlocked automatically 60 days after paid Activation and 60 days of paid active service.
     • Phones purchased before 2023 may not be unlockable remotely. In that case, TracFone will provide unlock codes if the phone meets the same requirements.

  Turn off your Android device. Press and hold the Power, Volume Down, and Camera buttons simultaneously. Release the buttons once your Android device is powered on. Scroll using your Volume Up/Down buttons until you find the Factory Data Reset option, and select it. This will restore your phone to the state when you first bought it (note: any data stored on the phone may be lost, and apps will have to be reinstalled).
