- To power on your iPod, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until you see the Apple logo, then release it.
- If your iPod is unresponsive, you may need to perform a force restart. All you need to do is hold down both the Top and Volume Down(or Home button if you have it) buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds. Do you have an iPod Shuffle? There's no screen that you can use to turn it off, but you can instead use the three-way switch at the top of your shuffle to turn it off. To turn it off, you don't want to see the green coloring on the switch.^{[7]

You can turn off shuffle when you're listening to music on an iPod Touch by dragging up on the "Now Playing" screen. Tap the red shuffle icon (it looks like two twisting arrows) until it is grey and that turns shuffle off.
