Settlements are a huge new addition to Fallout 4. However, if you really want to revitalize Commonwealth and make it safer, you must establish supply lines between your settlements. This wikiHow article teaches you everything you need to know about supply lines in Fallout 4.

Things You Should Know

• You need the Local Leader tier 1 perk, at least 2 settlements, and a free settler to establish a supply line in Fallout 4.
• To establish a supply line, go to a settlement and open the Build menu. Select a free settler, and select the Supply Line option. Select a settlement to send them to.
• Supply lines allow settlements to share building materials and resources. Two settlements do not need to be directly connected to share resources.

   Supply lines allow settlements to share resources. When two or more settlements are connected by a supply line, provisions and building materials will be shared between all settlements in the supply line network. You will not need to find and carry resources for each individual settlement.

   • Resources will be shared between all settlements in the supply line network. Settlements do not need to be directly connected. If Settlement A is connected to Settlement B, and Settlement B is connected to Settlement C, then Settlement A and C will share the same resources.

   Unlock the Local Leader tier 1 perk. This perk is needed to unlock supply lines. To unlock this perk, you will need Charisma (CHA) level 6.

   Have two or more settlements. It should go without saying, but you cannot establish a supply line unless you establish two or more settlements first.

   Have a free settler. To establish a settlement, you will need at least one free settler who is not assigned any other task or occupation. This person will carry supplies along the supply line.

How to Establish a Supply Line

   Go to a settlement. You'll need to be within the settlement where you want to establish a supply line.

   Open the Build menu. To do so, press "V" on PC, the Touchpad on PS4, or the Menu button on Xbox One. Alternatively, you can select the workbench in the Workshop.

   Select a free settler. You'll need to find a settler that is not assigned any other tasks or jobs. Walk up to the settler while in build mode, and place the reticle on them to display a menu at the bottom of the screen.

   Open the Supply Line menu. To do so, press "Q" on PC, R1 on PS4, or RB on Xbox One. This will display a menu of settlements you own.

   Select a settlement you want to establish a supple line with. You can select any settlement in the menu.

   Settlement share resources. You won't have to find building materials for each individual settlement and carry them back to the settlement. All settlements in a supply line share the same resources.

   Excess food and drink can be used to supply all settlements. This can be food or drink that is produced by a settlement or in your inventory. If one settlement has an abundance of food or drink, and another is lacking, the excess food or drink can be used to supply other settlements.

   Provisioners can patrol their routes. Provisions will engage with hostile enemies and creatures while on their routes. Provisioners cannot die from hostile encounters, but they can be knocked down for a bit.

   You can give items to provisions to take back to the settlement. If you encounter a provisioner on their route, you can give them any items you want them to take back to the settlement. This allows you to free up space in your inventory.
