PDF download Download Article

If you want to save a photo someone else posted on Instagram, you have several options. You can use a third-party downloading app such as ToolZu, Downloader for Instagram if you're using Android, or Reposter for Instagram if you're using iOS. If you don't want to use a third-party website, you can easily screenshot the photo whether you're using a PC, Mac, or mobile device. This wikiHow will show you several of the easiest ways to save photos from Instagram to your computer, phone, or tablet.

How to Save an Image from Instagram

  • Go to ToolZu. Open Instagram and copy the URL of the photo you want to download. Paste the URL into ToolZu and click "Download".
  • Use Insget Photo Downloader if you have an Android. Copy the URL of the image, paste it into Insget, and select "Download Photo Instagram".
  • Use Reposter for Instagram if you have an iPhone. Click "Preview Photo or Video" and the sharing icon. Then, hit "Open in Browser" >"Save Image".

  1. Go to ToolZu in a web browser. You can use a free, ad-supported website called Toolzu to download Instagram photos on your computer, phone, or tablet.
    • The tool is totally free, but you won't be able to download images from private, friends-only accounts.[1]
    • There are many websites that allow you to download Instagram photos, but some last longer than others. If you don't want to use Toolzu, you'll usually find alternatives by searching for "Instagram photo downloader" on Google.
  2. You can skip this step if you have the Instagram mobile app.

  4. You can either scroll down your feed or click the photo on the profile of the person who shared it.
  5. The steps are a little different depending on whether you're using a computer or the mobile app:[2]
    • Computer: Click the three horizontal dots at the top-right corner of the photo and select Copy Link.
    • Android, iPhone, or iPad: Tap the paper airplane icon below the photo and select Copy link.
  6. If you're using a phone or tablet, just reopen your browser and you'll still be there. On a computer, click the browser tab that says "Free Photo Downloader for Instagram."
  7. To paste, right-click or tap-and-hold the blank and select Paste. As long as the photo isn't private, this will give you the option to download your photo.[3]
  8. This downloads the photo to your computer, phone, or tablet.

  3. A menu will expand.[5]
    • If you're using a computer, click the three dots ••• next to the post instead.[6]
  4. A link to the picture is now saved to your clipboard.
  5. After a few seconds, you'll see a new button below that says "Download 1/1."

  2. The first time you launch the app, you'll need to give it permission to access your photos—this is just so it can save photos to your iPhone or iPad. Once you're finished with the setup, you'll be ready to download photos.
  3. You can scroll to a photo in your feed or tap a photo on a friend's profile.
