How to Be Labubu for Halloween

Wear a fuzzy onesie and beige slippers. Trace rabbit-like ears onto cardboard, cover them in felt, and attach them to a headband. Use makeup to paint on a Labubu face or create your own Labubu mask. Add finishing touches like a keychain tag and body tag.

Making the Labubu’s Body

Choose a fuzzy onesie for an authentic look. A bunny onesie is probably the easiest option. The ears are already on top of the head like a Labubu’s, and they’ll usually be about the right shape. Other animals might work too—like a lamb or bear—but you might have to reposition the ears. You can also find fuzzy onesies that aren’t animal-themed, so you'll need to add ears to these.
- If you choose an animal onesie, try to find one without a nose or eyes on the hood, since that will probably take away from the resemblance to a Labubu.
- If you’re making a Labubu costume for a baby, finding a fuzzy onesie should be especially easy!

Wear a Sherpa hoodie and matching sweatpants for an easy, comfortable costume. A Sherpa sweatsuit will mimic the texture of a Labubu’s fur, so this is perfect for an all-in-one costume. Even better, these pieces are usually pretty easy to find, especially in the fall and winter. Just add ears, create your Labubu face, and add any finishing touches, and you’re ready to go.
- Labubus come in a huge variety of colors, so you can choose any color you want for your outfit.
- To look like a specific Labubu, choose a white or light-colored fabric and dye or tie-dye it the color you want.

Creating Labubu Ears

Make easy no-sew ears out of cardboard, felt, and a headband. Trace the shape of the Labubu's ears (like a short rabbit ear) onto cardboard and cut them out. On the back of the ears, use hot glue to attach felt in a color that matches your costume. Cover the front of the ears with pinkish-beige felt, and use a smaller piece of brown felt for the center of the ears. Then, hot glue the ears to the very top of a headband. The Labubu’s ears should point up and slightly inward.
- When you draw the ears onto the cardboard, leave a little extra on the bottom so you’ll have room to glue the ears to the headband.
- To make the headband more subtle, wrap it in felt that matches your costume before you attach the ears.
- For a more realistic look, use Sherpa fleece instead of felt—just note that it can be a little harder to attach with glue.

Sew Sherpa ears to your costume for a more realistic look. Cut out the pattern for the ears from Sherpa fleece—they should be rabbit-like in shape and about half as tall as the head of the costume. Lay the fabrics wrong-side-out and stitch the sides together, then flip them right-side-out. Insert a cardboard or wire frame so the ears will stand up, then stitch the bottom of the ears.
- Match the back of the ears to your costume, and use pink or beige for the inside of the ears and dark brown for the center.
- Stitch the ears to the top of your hoodie so they stand straight up.

Use cardboard or wire to make the ears stand up on a bunny onesie. If you’re using a bunny onesie, use a seam ripper to remove the ears from the costume. Trim the ears if they're too long—they should be about half as tall as the head. Insert a piece of cardboard or a wire form to give the ears some structure. Then, stitch the sides back together if you trimmed the ears, and sew the ears back onto the costume.
- You may be able to hot glue the ears to the hoodie, but test the glue in an inconspicuous spot first to make sure it won’t damage the fleece.
- You can also hot glue the ears to a headband, then wear that over the hoodie.
- If you’re using another animal, you may be able to remove and reposition the ears. If not, remove the existing ears and make your own out of cardboard or Sherpa.

Making a Labubu Face

Draw on a Labubu face if you’re good with makeup. To do your own Labubu-style makeup, outline a vertical oval shape in black beneath your eyes, then fill it in with white. Draw a thin, curved smile extending from either corner of your mouth, then draw 9 triangle shapes for the teeth and fill them in with white. Add soft blush high on your cheeks and draw the Labubu’s nose on the tip of your nose.
- To mimic a Labubu’s signature mischievous brow, cover your brows with concealer or powder.
- For an easier way to make Labubu teeth, cut out 9 triangles from white paper or cardstock, then attach them to a thin black string. Attach the string to your face with eyelash glue or another skin-safe adhesive.

Make a Labubu mask out of cardboard for an easy option. Cut out a large horizontal oval from cardboard. Cover the cardboard with peach-colored felt to mimic a Labubu’s vinyl skin. Then, cut out white ovals with smaller black ovals in the center for eyes, and draw on a small nose, wide smile, and 9 pointed teeth.
- Dab a bit of pink paint or blush onto the cheeks.^{[1]

- Glue a craft stick to the back of the mask so you can hold it up in front of your face.

- You can also use foam instead of cardboard—this will create a sturdy but lightweight mask.

Create a Labubu mask out of papier-mache if you’re crafty. Get a large, circle-shaped mask like Barrel or Jack Skellington from Nightmare Before Christmas. Cover the mask with masking tape, then papier-mache over that, building up the brow bones and shaping the pointed teeth as you go. Once the papier-mache is dry, paint the mask so the face is a peachy beige, the eyes are white with black centers, the nose and smile are black, and the teeth are white.^{[3]

- Add subtle pink blush to the cheeks. Some Labubus have freckles, so feel free to add those if you’d like.
- If the eyes of the original mask are perfectly round, consider reshaping them into vertical ovals so they look more like Labubu’s.
- If the eye holes aren’t covered, add a piece of black mesh to the back of the mask so you can see through the mask, but others won’t be able to see your eyes.

Optional Finishing Touches

Wear beige shoes to mimic Labubu’s feet. The hands and feet on Labubus are the same color as their faces. A simple pair of beige slip-in shoes is enough to create the effect, but if you want to make it more elaborate, attach three pointed toes made of craft foam to the tips of the shoes.
- You can also wear beige, four-fingered gloves if you’d like—Labubus have a thumb and 3 fingers—but you can just leave your hands bare if you prefer.

Make a keychain tag out of ribbon and foam. To create Labubu’s signature pendant, make a hoop shape out of a tube of craft foam, then spray paint it silver or gold. Loop a long piece of fabric through the keychain circle, then sew, glue, or pin the ends of the fabric to the back of the costume.
- Add branding to make it look more authentic: On most Labubus, the keychain tag says “THE MONSTERS” on one side of the fabric and “POP MART” on the other.

Add a “The Monsters” body tag for a realistic touch. To take your costume to the next level, add a tag to the hip of your costume, just like the body tag that comes on real Labubus. Write something on the tag like “Monsters,” “POP MART,” or the name of the series your Labubu comes from.
