Tired of walking to and fro between cities in Pokémon HeartGold or SoulSilver? Did you know that one of the Hidden Moves (HMs) in this game allows you to fly back and forth between cities you've visited? All you need is a bit of patience and a flying-type Pokémon.

Visit the Ecruteak City Gym and defeat Morty to get the Fog Badge. This allows you to use HM Surf outside of battle.^{[1]

Walk up to the Grunt and talk to him. Defeat him in battle.
He gives you HM Surf because of your bravery. Now teach Surf to one of your Pokémon.
Go down from the entrance to the beach. Surf into the water.^{[2]
