Honesty is the best approach. Are you ready to tell him that you like him? Share with him the things you like about him and that you may see him as more than a friend. A conversation between the two of you and building that friendship/relationship is based on honesty and sharing how you both feel.

First of all, I think that it is totally ok and you should totally go for it. Because its better to take a shot at it then to never find out what could of hapened between you to because what I like to say is it is better to love and have lost rather then never love at all. While I'm not really a expert at relationships but give it a shot and see what could happen. most likely I think he will like you back. Here is a quote that I think might help you

So, we've known each other for three years, and I love being around him! He gives me so much happiness and warmth. But anytime I try to tell him, I chicken out! last year in my sophomore year of high school I liked this guy and never had the guts to tell him. and now that we have been friends since then I've had those feeling get stronger. I have the feeling he doesn't like me, and he cares about my safety and I don't want to lose that. And telling him will make things awkward what should I do?

Help, I have a crush on my guy friend!
A new student came to my school six weeks ago. For the first two weeks, I started to talk with him. Afterwards, we started talking more often and he started looking out for me when I get hurt in PE, asking if I'm okay and that. A few weeks ago I realised my feelings for him, and I know this isn't like my former crushes, since I'm so much closer to him than I was with my old crushes, and the main thing I like about him is his kind and caring side for him. I talk with him more than I would with most boys, and I think it's the same with him for girls. We also share a knowing look every time something wild or chaotic happens in class. I don't know what to do!

I really like a boy and I am not sure that he likes me. He is just a little bit taller than me, brown hair and hazel eyes. I wouldn’t say he’s a nerd, but he is very good at school. I’ve liked him for around 4-3 years now.
