I’m an American-Muslim and Therian! Why do people hate me?
Well I used to do quadrobics when I was like 10 and some 8 year old boys tryed to push me. It was rude so I told my mother I’m a therian and she said that therian are haram but some people like therians and some people are not… Well that’s why I have over 10 therian masks. Thank you for reading this post!

That’s a really hard situation, especially when you come from a religious or cultural background that has set standards or expectations. It can feel even more isolating when your family doesn’t understand. Sadly, this happens a lot. Many Therians have unsupportive parents who don’t understand or accept Therianthropy. It’s a huge issue in the community.
And unfortunately, there are always going to be people who don’t just misunderstand you—they actively dislike you because you're a Therian. And I hope that the worst someone faces is just confusion or discomfort, but the reality is that some people can be hateful. That’s the sad truth of being “othered” in society.
I’ve faced that myself as a transgender and gay person—it's a similar kind of othering. Some people are just going to hate you for who you are, for things you can’t control. But what I want to say is: you can’t let that hate become part of how you see yourself. Just because others think your identity is wrong or weird or gross doesn’t mean that it is. Your experience is valid. You are a Therian. That’s your truth.
It’s hard, especially if the person judging you is someone close, like a parent. But eventually, you’ll find a community. You’ll find people who love you for who you are and who will support you. So the goal is to hold onto that and try to let go of the negativity. Focus on those who uplift you, not the ones who try to tear you down.

What works best against bullies is a short verbal comeback. Communicate that what the bully said didn’t bother you or was just plain dumb. It helps even more if you also have the body language and gestures to support what you say. For example, you may say “Whatever…” while you roll your eyes or shrug your shoulders. Responses like this take the fun out of teasing for the bully and leave them feeling like what they did was lame.
It is important to still walk away after this response, but making this kind of statement lets the bully know they can’t get to you and makes it less likely they will come after you in the future.

If people are bullying you or making mean comments, it may be because they want to feel better about themselves and feel like they have power over you. They may not understand your lifestyle and will pick on you if it doesn't align with how they live their life. Try to distance yourself from any bullies and ignore what they're saying. If you feel happy and like you're being your true self, then ignoring them will show them that you're not bothered. If it continues to be an issue, then talk to another adult or authority figure that you trust for help.
While there's some debate whether being a therian is allowed by the Islam religion, many people believe that it's okay because you are just being true to who you are as a person. Being therian is a part of you and not a choice you made, so some Muslims believe that it isn't a sin.
