What is a furry?
A furry is a person who has a “fursona,” which is an anthropomorphic animal alter ego, or someone who’s interested in anthropomorphic animal characters.

What is a fursona?
“Fursona” is a combination of “furry” and “persona.” Someone’s fursona is the furry character they’ve created as an alter ego.

Are furries a sexual thing?
Not inherently. For many people, the furry scene is just a fun, creative hobby or way to express themselves. As with any hobby or scene, there are some people who have sexual motivations, and that’s perfectly fine between consenting adults, but furries are not intrinsically sexual.

What is the furry scale?
The furry scale is a fan-made meter that measures how much of a furry a certain character is. For example, a character that’s a human is a 0 on the scale, a human with animal ears or a tail might be a 1, and so on, with characters that are 100% animals being rated a 5 on most scales. For this quiz, we adapted the scale to tell you where you’d fall on it!

What is a scalie?
A scalie is a reptilian furry.

What is a therian?
A therian is someone who spiritually identifies as an animal, believing their soul is that of, say, an eagle or a tiger.

What’s the difference between furries and therians?
There’s a lot of overlap, but furries do what they do as a creative hobby or a mode of self-expression, while therians have a more spiritual belief. Furries often have alter egos, known as fusonas, but therians believe they really are an animal, not just that an animal is their alter ego.
