   • The WeChat ID is often referred to as your username, account name, user ID, or handle.

   • Tapping your WeChat ID on this screen copies it to your Android's clipboard so you can paste it into texts, social media, emails, and more.

How to Change Your WeChat ID

   Go to your WeChat ID in the WeChat app. To get there, tap Me at the bottom of WeChat, tap Settings (or tap your profile photo), then select Account Security.

   Tap your WeChat ID. If you qualify to change your WeChat ID, you will see a "Change WeChat ID" button here.

   Tap Change WeChat ID. You'll be prompted to verify your WeChat password, and then you'll see a typing field.

   • You can only change your WeChat ID once a year. If you've already changed it in the last year, you won't have the option to change it now.
   • If you can't change your WeChat ID but haven't changed it in the past year, you may have performed an action that raised a security concern on your account, such as changing your password, logging in from a new device, or freezing your account. Wait a few days and try again.

   Enter a new WeChat ID and tap Next. Your WeChat ID can be between 6 and 20 characters. Avoid using your name, birth date, or any personal details in your WeChat ID.

   • You'll be prompted to read and accept an important notice to continue. After you read the message and tap OK to confirm, your new WeChat ID will be active.

   Tap + at the top-right corner of WeChat. If you know somebody's WeChat ID and want to find them on WeChat, you can search for their ID here.

How to Delete a WeChat ID

   Open your WeChat settings. To get there, tap Me at the bottom of WeChat, then tap Settings. If you want to delete your WeChat ID, you will need to send an account deletion request to WeChat.

   • Deleting your WeChat ID is permanent.
