Do you want to know if someone read your message on Hinge? Unfortunately, the Hinge app doesn't have Read Receipts, so you won't be able to see exactly when your message has been seen. However, Hinge offers a feature called "Your Turn" that can send your recipient a reminder to respond. You can also enable "Last Active" to show an approximate time frame of a member's last activity. This wikiHow will show you how to use Your Turn and enable Last Active on your iPhone and Android device, as well as alternative apps that offer Read Receipts.

Things You Should Know

• Since Hinge doesn't have Read Receipts, you won't be able see when someone has read your message or vice versa.
• When using Your Turn, the recipient will receive a notification of a pending message from you.
• You can only see a member's Last Active status if you and the user have it enabled and you haven’t matched yet.

   No—Hinge does not have read receipts. You won't be able to see if others have read your messages, and others will not be able to see when you have read their messages.

   • Hinge will only confirm if the message was delivered.
   • Hinge conversations that are inactive for 14 days are archived into a Hidden Chats section.
   • You can use Your Turn to send your recipient a reminder to respond.
   • You can also check a potential match's Last Active status as long as you and the recipient have it enabled.

Using Your Turn

   Match with a user. You'll be able to see if a Hinge user likes your photo or prompt. Click the notification to bring up the Match window.

   • Click Match with to complete the match.
   • A new window will pop up.

   Click Add a reply. You'll need to start a conversation on Hinge.

   • You can use some of the best Hinge openers to grab your match's attention.
   • Alternatively, you can click Make it their turn right away to invite them to send the first message.

   Give the recipient time to respond. Responses depend on the recipient. They can have other responsibilities, events, or they may have forgotten. You can proceed whenever you'd like, but it's recommended to give them ample time to respond.

   Select the user from your "Matches". You can find your Matches tab located on the bottom of the screen, indicated by a purple text box icon.

   On the user's chatlog, click ••• . You can find this at the top right corner.

   Click Invite to Chat. In the chat log, you will see You invited (name) to start the chat.

   • The recipient will receive a notification of your chat invitation.
   • This does not guarantee you will receive a response. This only reminds the recipient that there is a message waiting for them.

Using Last Active Status

   Open the Hinge app and tap the "Photo" icon. This is located on the far right of the navigation bar.

   • You will only be able to check the Last Active status for potential matches.
   • You will not be able to see the activity status for current matches.

   Find the "Show Last Active Status" section.

   Activate your "Last Active status" by tapping the toggle. It will turn purple.

   • You need to have this feature activated to see someone else's Last Active status.
   • If you want to disable this feature, tap the toggle so it turns gray.

   Click x to save your changes. Your Last Active status will only be visible to Hinge members when viewing your profile in Discover, in Standouts, or on the Likes You tab.

   Navigate to a potential match to view their Last Active status.

   • You will be able to see if a user is Active Now or Active Today.
   • You won't be able to see the Last Active status if the user has it hidden, or if they have not been Active on the app within the past day.

Apps with Read Receipts

   Tinder. Tinder offers Read Receipts as a paid feature. You can purchase Read Receipts in packages of 5, 10, or 20.

   • You will not be able to use Read Receipts without paying for them.
   • This will only work with matches who have Read Receipts turned on.
   • If your match has Read Receipts on turned off, your Read Receipt count will be unused.

   Other Read Receipt apps. If Read Receipts are important to you, consider moving the conversation from Hinge to one of these apps:

   • WhatsApp
   • Instagram
   • Snapchat
   • Messages on iOS
