Are you new at Fortnite? Crouching can help you sneak around during matches. It's Left Shift on a keyboard and Left bumper on Xbox or PlayStation, but you can choose new keybinds if desired. We'll show you how to crouch in Fortnite using PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch.
Steps
Changing the Crouch Key
-
Open the game menu. This will vary depending on your device.[1]
- PC: Press ESC.
- PlayStation: Press Options
- Xbox: Press Menu
- Nintendo Switch: Press Menu and then the cog icon
-
Select Settings. This is the cog icon.
-
Select Keybinds. This is the tab at the top.
- On consoles, this may look like Controller Options or Wireless Controller.
- You can also change the keybinds for emoting and thanking the bus driver.
-
Select Crouch. You may need to scroll down to find it.
-
Set a new crouch key. When you select the keybind, press another button to assign it to crouch instead.
- On PC, some players have crouch set to C.
- Toggle crouch allows you to turn off and on crouch mode by tapping the button once. If you'd rather hold down the crouch button to stay crouched, toggle it Off.
-
Select Apply. This will save your settings.
- You can also change performance and graphics settings for better gameplay.
