    In general, large animals are best paired with small animals. Since the Chinese Zodiac is based on universal harmony, the larger zodiac animals tend to fare best with the smaller ones. For example, Oxen and Tigers go best with Rats and Dogs. This reflects yin and yang, or the harmony between all things, in Taoism and many other Chinese belief systems.[16]
    • There is also an an agricultural aspect to this reasoning, as pigs and oxen share a habitat but have very different approaches to work, leisure, and life in general.
  2. Step 2 The element of your sign
    Just like our Western astrology, the Chinese Zodiac’s 12 signs are divided into subcategories based on the elements: Fire, Wood, Earth, Metal, and Water. Each sign is fixed to an element, which can affect compatibility. For example, fire shapes metal, therefore, a Fire Horse could enhance a Wood Tiger’s life with their fiery passion.
