Edit the account age on PlayStation network
PDF download Download Article

Once you've entered your birthdate into your PSN account, there's no option to edit your age. To get around this limitation, you used to be able to link your PSN account to your Sony account, which forced you to enter a new birthdate. This workaround is no longer available, so the only way to change your birth year is to contact Sony, or upgrade to an adult account once you turn 18. Here's how to change a PSN account age on your computer or mobile device.

Updating the Date of Birth on PlayStation

If you want to change the date of birth on your PSN account, you'll need to contact Sony directly. If you can provide a good reason for the change, an agent should be able to update your account to the correct birthday. If your account is a minor account, your only option is to wait until you turn 18.

Contacting Sony

  1. If you're unable to change your birthday, Sony may be able to update it for you, as long as you are of age and have a good reason to do so. You can contact Sony via live chat from 8 AM to 7 PM PT daily. Just be sure to provide a reason that doesn't go against Sony's Terms and Conditions; they may ban your account otherwise.

  1. If one of your parents created a child account for you, you can switch to an adult account as soon as you turn 18. Just log in to your PlayStation Network account in any web browser, and you'll see instructions on upgrading your account.[2]
    • You can also upgrade to an adult account on your PS4 or PS5:
    • PS5: Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Upgrade Your Account and follow the on-screen instructions.
    • PS4: Go to Settings > Account Management and select Account Information. Select Upgrade Your Account, then follow the on-screen instructions.
