  2. You can find this underneath the Additional care header.
  3. This is the first option.[1]
  4. You can find this tile near the bottom of the page. Your Galaxy will begin testing your sensors, including the gyroscope.[2]
    • If this isn't your first time testing the sensors, tap Test again to begin.
    • When the testing is complete, you should see Normal next to "Gyroscope."
      • If you don't see "Gyroscope" listed, your Samsung phone or tablet does not have a gyroscope.[3]
    • If you don't see this menu, you can calibrate your sensors using the Using the Hidden Menu method or the Using a Third-Party App method.
    • If the sensor test fails, jump down to our troubleshooting tips.

Using the Hidden Menu

  1. It's the phone icon on your home screen. You'll be entering a special code in the dialer to access the hidden system menu that lets you test and recalibrate your gyroscope.
    • This method should work on most Samsung Galaxy models, including newer ones that no longer have a gyroscope calibration option in the Settings menu. The exception is that it may not work with certain mobile carriers, including Verizon.
    • If this method doesn't work for you, try the Using a Third-Party App method.
  2. Once dialed, you'll see a diagnostic menu with several buttons.[4]
  3. You'll see this near the middle of the screen.[5]
  4. This will recalibrate the gyroscope and display the word PASS when complete.
    • If you see FAIL instead of PASS, there is something wrong with your Galaxy's internal hardware. Contact your carrier (or Samsung) if your phone is under warranty for repair options.
    • Tap the back button twice to return to your home screen after recalibration.

  1. This is a completely free app that will calibrate your gyroscope. To get the app:
    • Type accelerometer calibration free into the search bar and tap the search button.
    • Tap Accelerometer Calibration by RedPi Apps to open its details.[6]
    • Tap Install.
    • Follow any on-screen instructions to grant the app permission to install.
  2. If you're still in the Play Store, tap OPEN near the top of the screen to do this. Otherwise, tap the new blue icon with a smartphone inside in your apps list.
  3. Now you'll see some moving numbers at the top of the screen.
  4. It's the green button at the bottom of the screen. Leave the phone or tablet on the surface until the calibration is complete. When you see a message that says the accelerometer has been calibrated successfully, you'll know your gyroscope has been calibrated.

Troubleshooting

  1. 1
Make sure your Galaxy device has a gyroscope. Not all models do–for example, like many of the A models, the Samsung Galaxy A14 does not have a gyroscope.[7] However, some A models, including the A36, do come with a gyroscope sensor.[8]
  2. 2
Restart your device. If it's been a while since you turned off your Samsung phone or tablet, a simple restart can usually fix small software bugs. Turn off your Galaxy device completely, wait a few minutes, and then power it on again.
  3. 3
Update your device. Make sure you're running the latest version of the Android operating system for your device. This ensures that any bugs on Samsung's end are patched up. You can update your Android by navigating to Settings > System > System Updates.[9]
  4. 4
Contact Samsung if problems persist. If you're still having issues with the gyroscope on your Galaxy, it may be a hardware issue. In this case, you can contact Samsung support for additional help or replacement parts.
