How to Get Infinity or Negative Infinity on a Calculator

Most calculator apps don't allow you to input negative infinity or infinity, but you can calculate both using Google's calculator in your web browser. To get infinity, divide any number by "0". Divide a negative number by 0 to get negative infinity.

You can calculate negative infinity using Google's calculator function. While the default calculator app on your Android may not be able to calculate infinity or negative infinity directly, you can write infinity in the calculator built into Google's search engine. Dividing any number by 0 will get you infinity (rather than an error message), and calculating "log(0)" will get you negative infinity.
- Open the Google app or go to https://www.google.com in a web browser.
- Search Google Calculator to display the calculator widget in Google.
- Divide any number by 0 to get infinity.

Certain calculators calculate negative infinity as NaN (Not a Number), so there aren't many calculators that calculate log(0). In fact, log(0) is undefined.

If you're using a TI-83 Plus or TI-84 Plus graphing calculator, there's no infinity button ∞. However, you can enter positive infinity by inputting 1E99, or negative infinity by inputting -1E99.
