What is Kaiju No. 8?
Kaiju No. 8 is a manga series by artist Naoya Matsumoto which debuted on July 3, 2020 in Shonen Jump Magazine, and which ended on July 18, 2025. Since then, the series has been adapted as an anime by Production I.G.

What is Kaiju No. 8 about?
The series is set in a futuristic city that’s constantly attacked by kaiju, or monsters. To defend the city, an elite brigade of kaiju hunters is formed. The series follows Kafka Hibino, a nobody assigned to kaiju cleanup, who once dreamed of joining the kaiju-fighting Defense Corps. One day, while cleaning up a downed kaiju, Kafka is invaded by a parasite kaiju, turning him into a human-kaiju hybrid. With his newfound power, he’s recruited to the Defense Corps, where his dream gets a second chance.
