To turn off message notifications on an iPhone, open Settings → Tap on Notifications → Tap Messages → Toggle “Allow Notifications” to off.

Turning Off Notifications for Messages

To disable message notifications on your iPhone, go to Settings and tap Notifications. Select Messages and toggle off Allow Notifications.

   Toggle off "Show in Notification Center". This will disable Message notifications from showing up in the center when you access it by swiping down from the top of the screen.

   Toggle off "Badge App Icon". Doing so will disable the notification that pops up next to the app's icon on your home screen.

   Toggle off "Show on Lock Screen". Doing so will disable notifications from popping up on the lock screen while your phone is not in use.

   • Tapping on the various tones will give you a preview.

   Tap on Sounds. It’s located at the top-left corner of your screen.
