If your neck hurts when you move or if it’s so stiff you can barely move it, you may have a sprained neck. While you should see a doctor to rule out any serious injury or conditions, there's a lot you can do to help treat your sprained neck at home. Just take it easy, as even a minor neck sprain can take 4-6 weeks to heal. Best Ways to Treat a Neck Sprain
First, see a doctor to rule out any other conditions. Apply a cold press for 20 minutes at a time within the first 24-48 hours, then switch to heat after 48 hours. Take over-the-counter painkillers, and avoid activities that put extra strain on your neck. Massage and roll your neck to loosen and stretch the muscles.
