Not all phones are capable of inserting smileys on text messages, so that's why people use symbols creatively instead. Aside from smileys, playing with symbols can let you also create objects like flowers. You can send a flower to someone to express emotions, and it's easy to do.

Texting a Flower Using Symbols

Type “@)” to create the head of the flower. Then, add “-,---” to create the flower’s stem. Put together, the flower looks like: @)-,---

  1. Open the messaging feature of your phone.
  2. Choose the contact or input the details such as contact number or email of the recipient on the “To” field.

  3. For iOS tap the “123” button; for Android and others it can be either a button with either “symb,” “?123,” “*#(“ or “@!?” on it.
    • Going to this mode lets you input symbols instead of letters and numbers.
  4. Select the “at” sign (@) then select the close parentheses “)”.
  5. Select the dash (–), add a comma, then two more dashes.
    • You have now created a flower using symbols! Your flower should look like this, which represents a rose @)-,--.
  6. Press the Send function of your messaging app to send the flower.

This is because not all manufacturers use the same emojis, so when you send a dot it has a code the other device has this code as a half moon.

Tips

  • The length of the flower would depend on you. You can change the length by varying the number of dashes you put in.
  • You can change the leaf by using either a semicolon (;) or a close angle bracket (>), instead of the comma.
