Turning Your Luck Around
Sometimes, it feels like the universe is working against us. Nothing goes our way, none of our plans pan out, and to top it all off, unexpected bummers seem to seek us out. Whether or not you believe in luck, it’s hard to deny that things just seem to work out for some people, while other people seem to fall flat on their faces. So how can you turn your luck around?
Set yourself up for good luck. Half of luck is just being in the right place at the right time, and while you can’t always know where or when that place and time is, you can create those opportunities yourself! How are you ever going to win a raffle if you don’t enter one? How are you going to meet your soulmate if you don’t get out of the house and look for them? Luck favors those who take a little initiative!
Share your good luck to multiply it. When you do have good luck, you can increase it by spreading it around. Find some money on the ground? Spend it on a friend! They’ll remember that, and return the favor, and suddenly you didn’t just find some money, but your friend also baked you cookies as thanks. See how that works?
Ask someone else to share their good luck. When you’re down on your luck, you can always ask someone else for help turning it around. A bad day can turn good just by spending time in good company. And who knows? Maybe your friend just got a super cool opportunity to travel somewhere amazing, or meet someone famous, or whatever else, and they want you to join them. Luck can be shared!
Find the silver lining in bad luck. They say every dark cloud has a silver lining, and it’s true! Sometimes, “good luck” is just about making the most of a bad situation. Cooking dinner and burn your food? Well, that’s great compost for your garden, and an excellent excuse to treat yourself to some takeout. Car break down? This is an opportunity to learn a thing or two about cars, and maybe you’ll be able to fix it next time it happens. It’s all about perspective.
