Do you want to watch your friends play Fortnite? You can easily spectate from the lobby if you don't want to play. You can even spectate while sitting out, but you'll need to keep joining as a spectator if you want to watch more than one match. Here's how to spectate friends and random players in Fortnite on PC, Xbox, PS4, PS5, Switch, or mobile.
Quick Steps
- Wait for your friends to enter a match.
- Join your friend's party.
- Wait at least 30 seconds for them to jump from the bus.
- Select Watch or Watch Game.
Steps
Spectating Friends
-
Wait for your friend to join a match. If you want to spectate a friend without joining the actual match, you'll need to wait until they've entered a match. Otherwise, you'll be queued up with them.
-
Join your friend's party. The player must be added to your friend list.Advertisement

Select Watch. This button is where you'd normally find the Play or Ready button.
- If you don't see this button, wait at least 30 seconds. You can't spectate friends when they're still on the bus.
- If the button still doesn't light up, or you don't see it, open your Social tab, select your friend, and then select Watch Game.
