If you want the people you’re chatting with on Viber to know your current location, you can easily share it right from your chat window. You can send your current location once from the map, or attach your location to each message you send by enabling your live location. Read on to learn easy ways to share your location on Viber on your Android or iPhone.
Quick Steps
- Open Viber and tap the Chats tab.
- Select or create a chat.
- Tap +.
- Select Location.
- Verify your current location.
- Tap Send location.
Steps
Sending Your Current Location
-
Start or open a chat in Viber. Select a chat with the person or people you want to share your location with, or tap the Chats icon (the purple bubble with a white speech bubble inside) to create a new chat. The chat window will appear.
- If Viber doesn't open to the Chats tab, tap Chats at the bottom-left corner to go there first.
- Use this method to send your location once to the person you're chatting with.
-
Tap +. This opens a window that contains several options.Advertisement
-
Tap Location. This opens a map that will zoom in to your current location if Viber has permission to access it. If Viber cannot access your location, you'll be prompted to enable location sharing for Viber in your phone's settings.
- If you need to adjust the map, you can tap it to view it full screen, then tap and drag the map to the correct location.[1]
-
Enable location sharing for Viber. If you've already given Viber permission to access your location, you can skip this step. Otherwise, if you're using an Android, tap Continue, then toggle on "Location access" or "Use location" for Viber.[2] If you're using an iPhone, choose how you want to enable location access, such as While Using the App or Always.
- When you're finished, tap the back button to return to Viber.
-
Tap Send location or Send to share your location. If you have an Android, it'll be at the bottom of the map. On an iPhone, you'll see Send in the top right. This sends your current location to the chat in Viber.
Enabling Live Location
-
Start or open a chat. Select a chat with the person or people you want to share your location with, or tap the Chats icon (the purple bubble with a white speech bubble inside) to create a new chat. The chat window will appear.
- Use this method if you want to share your live location each time you send a message to the chat. When this feature is enabled, a location pushpin will appear on each of your messages–anyone in the chat will be able to tap the pushpin to see where you were when you sent the message.
-
Tap the three dots at the top-right corner ⋮. A menu will expand.
-
Scroll down and toggle on "Attach location always." Now you'll see a location pin on every one of your messages in the chat.[3]
- If prompted, follow the on-screen instructions to give Viber permission to access your location.
- To stop sharing your location, return to this menu, then toggle the switch to the Off position.
