Are you looking for fresh videos on the For You page on TikTok? Fortunately, you can easily reset the feed there so you'll be served a bunch of new videos. However, TikTok keeps any and all data it's gathered about you so far, so older videos from the previous algorithm may end up leaking back into your For You page. This wikiHow article teaches you how to reset the TikTok For You page algorithm.
Things You Should Know
- To reset the TikTok algorithm, tap the three-line menu on your profile, go to "Settings and privacy" > "Content Preferences," and tap "Refresh."
- Refreshing the algorithm gives you a chance to see different kinds of videos on your FYP.
- Resetting does not affect your Following tab or inbox.
Steps
-
Tap Profile in the TikTok app. It's in the lower right corner of the TikTok mobile app on your Android, iPhone, or iPad.
-
Tap ☰. This three-line menu icon is in the top right corner of your screen.Advertisement
-
Tap Settings and privacy. You'll find this option at the bottom of the menu next to a gear icon.
-
Tap Content preferences. It's under the "Content & Display" header next to a video camera.
-
Tap Refresh your For You feed. It's the second-to-last option on the menu.
-
Tap Continue and then Refresh. Once you refresh your feed, you'll see new and popular videos in your For You feed, and fewer videos based on your previous likes and views.
- Once your feed is reset, you'll see a notification at the top of your screen. A survey might pop up, asking you why you reset the For You feed. After you select a reason, tap Submit to continue.
- Refreshing your For You feed will not affect the Following feed.[1]
