    Expert Answer
In a Clue game with fewer than six players, maximize your strategic options by utilizing all six pawns. Despite the reduced player count, each pawn retains its potential as a suspect, ensuring a challenging and unpredictable gameplay experience.
  • Question

No. It is always best to use a pencil in Clue, especially if you are not sure.
  • Question
When the clue card says move everyone to a room of your choice, is it the person's choice or each player's choice of rooms?

The person with the card. The card is talking to you, not the other players.
  • Question
How can I tell when someone is secretly hiding a card?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Personally, I keep track of how many cards each person has shown me. This allows me to know whether or not someone is hiding a card by helping me notice discrepancies.
  • Question
Can I make a suggestion about cards in my hand?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Yes, that is actually a common strategy used to throw people off (e.g. if you know that the murderer is Mr. Green but you have Prof. Plum’s card, you could make a suggestion about Prof. Plum to confuse people).

  • Question
How can I stop running out of room on my sheet?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
If you mean that you are running out of columns, you can get a new sheet for the next game (or if you run out of those, either erase them after every 4 games or order more online; the game instructions tell you how). If you are taking separate notes and that is where you run out of room, just use multiple sheets. The only things that you should write on the detective sheet are x's or player initials.

    Community Answer
You should know some of the cards of other players -- all you need is to make a list of all cards, cross off your cards, cross off any you know are in the envelope and the cards you know your opponent has. This will leave some cards left, and you know it can only be that.

If you have the weapon, you do not have to reveal it unless directly asked. If someone asks you to reveal your weapon, then yes, you must show it.
  • Question
When playing Clue, can I claim not to have a card that I actually possess?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
That action would be a lie and is generally not advised in a game like Clue. While you could technically do it, it goes against the spirit of fair play.
  • Question
Is it permissible to ask if an opponent has a card that I already hold in my hand, as a way to mislead them?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Yes, this strategy is generally allowed by the rules of Clue. However, it involves deception, as you are not genuinely seeking information. The acceptability of this tactic often depends on the level of competitiveness among the players and your group's social norms.
