There are 56 total cards in the game Slamwich: 44 food cards, 3 thief cards, 8 muncher cards, and the rules of play card. The amount of cards each player gets in a game depends on how many people are playing. Deal out all of the cards evenly to each of the players. Make sure they're face-down, so none of the other players can see them.

Because you need to have a special deck of sandwich-shaped cards with different characters on them, you likely will need to pay to purchase one. You may be able to find the game for a cheap price at a local thrift shop, or on an online buying site like eBay or Craigslist. But, make sure you've got all 55 cards and the rules card so you have a complete set!

    Community Answer
Start by dealing out all of the cards evenly to each of the players so they're face-down in front of them. When it's your turn, flip over a single card and add it to the center stack. Go in a clockwise direction and have each player turn over 1 card and add it to the pile. Whenever 2 identical cards are placed consecutively, slap the center pile and collect all of the cards. If you see 1 ingredient in between 2 cards of the same ingredient, slap the center pile to claim the pile. If someone plays a thief card, shout "Stop Thief!" before slapping the pile and claiming the cards. If someone plays a muncher card, they get to keep the pile, unless someone plays a double decker or slamwich, in which case, they get to keep the pile. Keep playing until 1 person has all of the cards. Be sure the slap the pile quick! If you're wrong, and you slap incorrectly, you have to give up 1 of your cards to the pile.
