The easiest thing you can do to make your room soundproof is add mass. Walls that are made out of concrete, brick, or multiple layers of drywall are going to be more soundproof than walls that are lighter.

Soundproofing systems are basically aluminum rails that mount to your wall framing, with rubber bumpers between them. Then, you can use multiple layers of drywall separated with Green Glue, which is a kind of elastic you can use to glue drywall together and caulk the seams with.
