    Expert Answer
It's easy to feel discouraged, but keep in mind that if you keep practicing you will get better. If you start to get overwhelmed on your homework, stop and break the problem or assignment up into small chunks. Then, go one step at a time. Once you finish your homework, give yourself a treat, like watching TV or seeing a friend as a reward for all your hard work.

In all my classes I have I have A's, but in photography, I have no idea what to do. I have a D, and the teacher is so scary. She expects everything to be perfect. What should I do?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Talk to your teacher, even if she is scary, and let her know that you are doing your best, but can't seem to get better. Tell her you would like her advice on what you should do. Even if she doesn't help you a lot, it will show her that you care about the subject and are making an effort in the class.

If you are in an upper-level course, read a lot in Chinese. You can also work on doing short writing prompts in Chinese. Additionally, work on improving your grammar and conversational skills by talking in Chinese to a native speaker if you know one. Or, practice with your teacher and/or a friend also taking Chinese.

  • Question
I have bad grades in math (6th grade), and it doesn't matter how I try to study, I can't get good grades. I've even asked for help. Any suggestions?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Make sure that you're taking your time on your assignments and tests for math. If you rush through the problems, you're bound to make mistakes. Talk to your teacher again, and tell him/her that you're really having a hard time understanding the material. See if they would be willing to meet with you before or after school once or twice a week to go over everything. You might also want to ask your parents if they'd be willing to hire a tutor for you.

  • Question
How can I improve my computer science grade (and make my parents less angry) if I have an F in my second week due to a failed assignment?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Ask if you can redo the assignment you failed or any kind of extra credit assignment. Tell your teacher you really care about the subject and you want to do better, and explain why you failed. Be honest! If you didn't prepare enough or try hard enough, say that. He/she will be more sympathetic if you're honest. As for your parents, same thing. Tell them you made a mistake but you're working hard to get back on the right track in that class.
  • Question
How do I recollect material I've learned in school?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Take notes during class and review your notes every evening at home. Then when you have a big test or project coming up, review all of your notes from the period you'll be tested on. You can also use a highlighter or post-it notes in your textbooks (only use a highlighter if you own the book) to mark significant passages so you can go back over those when you're studying.

  • Question
How do I get better in math if I'm a kid and can't handle time management?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Time management is simply a skill you'll need to learn to get through life; there are only 24 hours in a day, and when you're an adult, there are even more issues that compete for that time (and the consequences are much worse than simply a bad grade). Follow the methods in Create a Study Schedule for a couple of weeks; by this time, it will start to become a habit. The techniques in Improve Your Math Grade may also be helpful.
