Are you getting messages from unknown users on Facebook? While Facebook has preventative features for spam conversations, you can manually report a chat as spam and report the user. Here's how to mark a Facebook Messenger conversation as spam.

- Open the Messenger app.
- Tap the chat.
- Tap the user's name at the top.
- Tap Report and select a reason.
- Tap Submit report.

- Facebook Messenger already has features that automatically detect spam conversations. However, you can also manually report a conversation as spam.[1]

Tap the chat. This should be listed on the Chats tab. If you aren't already on this tab, tap it at the bottom to navigate there now.Advertisement

Tap the user's name. This is at the top of the chat.

Tap Report. You may need to scroll down to find this option.

Select a reason. You can select: Harassment, Scams, Other, or another reason for the report.

Tap Submit report. This is at the bottom.

Block the user (optional). Return to the previous page and tap Block.
- At the top, tap Block messages and calls. Tap Block to confirm.
- At the bottom, tap Block on Facebook. Tap Block to confirm.

Delete the chat (optional). Return to the Chats tab. Swipe left on the chat, and then tap Delete.

Log into https://www.facebook.com/ in a web browser. You should see your feed.

Click the Messenger icon. This is the lightning bolt in a speech bubble at the top-right corner.

Click the chat. If the spam conversation is recent, you'll see it listed in the drop-down menu.
- If you need to search for it, click See all in Messenger to view all your chats.

Click Report. A pop-up window will open.
