Are you getting messages from unknown users on Facebook? While Facebook has preventative features for spam conversations, you can manually report a chat as spam and report the user. Here's how to mark a Facebook Messenger conversation as spam.

  1. Open the Messenger app.
  2. Tap the chat.
  3. Tap the user's name at the top.
  4. Tap Report and select a reason.
  5. Tap Submit report.

  2. This should be listed on the Chats tab. If you aren't already on this tab, tap it at the bottom to navigate there now.

  5. You can select: Harassment, Scams, Other, or another reason for the report.
  6. This is at the bottom.
  7. (optional). Return to the previous page and tap Block.
    • At the top, tap Block messages and calls. Tap Block to confirm.
    • At the bottom, tap Block on Facebook. Tap Block to confirm.
  8. Return to the Chats tab. Swipe left on the chat, and then tap Delete.

  1. Log into https://www.facebook.com/ in a web browser. You should see your feed.
  2. This is the lightning bolt in a speech bubble at the top-right corner.
  3. If the spam conversation is recent, you'll see it listed in the drop-down menu.
    • If you need to search for it, click See all in Messenger to view all your chats.
  4. This is next to the sender's name.
  5. You can find this in the right panel. The menu will expand.
  6. A pop-up window will open.
  7. You can select: Harassment, Scams, Other, or another reason.
  8. This is the blue button at the bottom.
    • Click the X to close the window when you're finished.
  9. You can find this option underneath the Privacy & support header in the right panel. Click Block twice to confirm.
    • The user will no longer be able to message you, see your posts, or tag your profile.
