Chocolates are always delicious and beloved by most. Cream-filled chocolates are an added treat; making cream-filled chocolates can also be profitable as they sell very easily. It is surprisingly cheap to make your own, as you don't need that many ingredients or tools. Naturally, the better quality chocolate you use, the more expensive it gets, but you do get out what you put in. This how-to is about making the cream filling for your homemade chocolate.

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks softened unsalted butter
  • 2 lb powdered sugar or icing sugar (4 cups)
  • Approx 3 tablespoons milk (just enough milk to make the cream workable, thinner than play-dough)
  • Flavoring extract
  • Gel-based food coloring
  • Butter or cooking oil spray for greasing
  • Melted chocolate (milk, dark or white)
  1. Put the softened butter, powdered sugar and milk in a mixing bowl. Using an electric mixer or a wooden spoon, beat together until smooth and pliable.
  2. Add flavoring or coloring to the dough, beating in. These make the chocolates more interesting.
    • Only use a small amount of either ingredient as it can make the dough too runny.

  3. Take tablespoonfuls of dough and, using your hands, roll them into balls, about the size of a grape.
  4. Grease a baking sheet with butter or cooking oil spray, then arrange the balls on a greased baking sheet.

Freeze balls until firm. Put the sheet in a freezer and freeze for 15 minutes for the balls to firm up.

Put the chocolate in a heatproof bowl and microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until melted.
  7. Use tongs or a fork to dip the balls, making sure the balls are submerged in melted chocolate. Place them in baking sheet.
  8. You can speed up the process by putting the chocolates in the fridge to cool and set, but only for a few minutes.
  9. This step is entirely optional.
