Craft a basic bed to sleep or set as a spawn point in Terraria
PDF download Download Article

In Terraria, a bed can be used as a respawn point if your character dies or uses a Recall Potion. They can also restore your health more quickly and pass time by sleeping. Beds can be crafted with 5 silk and 15 wood at a sawmill, but you'll need a few other advanced crafting stations to see this option. This wikiHow will show you how to craft a basic bed in Terraria on PC, PlayStation, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.

Things You Should Know

  • To make a bed in Terraria, you'll need to combine 5 silk and 15 wood blocks at a sawmill.
  • You'll need a workbench, furnace, anvil, sawmill, and loom to see the bed crafting option.
  • To set a spawn point, place the bed in a valid house and interact with it.

Setting a Spawn Point

  1. If the bed is placed in the open, it will not work as a spawn point. This also makes you vulnerable to enemy attacks. The house must:
    • Be at least 7-block wide and 5-block high (excluding ceiling, floor, and walls) or 9-blocks wide and 7-blocks high (including ceiling, floor, and walls)
    • Be crafted from material other than dirt, such as wood, stone, brick, or glass
    • Have a wall placed by the player (rather than naturally occurring)
  2. There must be enough space at the head of the bed for the player to stand. The bed can be placed in a non-rectangular room as long as the three leftmost tiles are open.
  3. When done properly, you'll see the Spawn point set! dialogue on your screen.
    • If you want to remove the spawn point, interact with the same bed again. You'll see Spawn point removed!
